Email Method

You can send me pictures via email.   I need one picture of the whole book lying flat,
one of the book lying flat but at an angle so I can see the spine; one of the book
partially opened, and one of the title page.  See the examples below.  That is the
minimum photos I need to give you an estimate. I don't charge for an email estimate,
but this is the most imprecise method and there are a lot of things I can't see on
photos, but usually this type of estimate is close to within 10-15% of the final repair
cost.

Occasionally I find a hidden problem  once I have the book  in my hand, in which case
I will call you before I proceed with any additional work.

Below are examples of the types and style of photographs I need to produce an
estimate.
“When you handle books all day long, every new one is a friend and a temptation.”
― Elizabeth Kostova, The Historian
Take a photo of the book with the spine partially
facing you.  If one of the covers is loose or
unattached, make sure the photo shows that.
I like to have a readable
photo of the title page of the
book, with the full title, the
publisher, and a date
.
This photo shows the damage to the spine
and more importantly how the pages are
not held tightly together. A side view photo
like this is required.
